The Box

Tony Veer has been involved with tin boxes all his working life. First, as an employee at multinationals and since 1998, after a management buy-out, as owner and Managing Director of The Box. Since then the company has grown to become a market leader of ‘stock tins’ in the Benelux, supplying promotional tin boxes all over Europe.

Tin box brand experience

Tony Veer is enthusiastic as he lists the benefits of tin boxes: “There was a time when tins were mostly functional. They were sturdy and could take a beating, and foods remained fresh for longer thanks to the airtight packaging. These benefits still stand, but these days there is a bonus factor - brand experience! Tin boxes radiate quality and people save them once they’re empty. Tins are durable too, 95% of all tin cans are recycled.” The Box assortment consists of standard and unprinted cans in all shapes and sizes. There are nearly two million items in stock, ready for quick delivery. The Box also supplies custom-made tins, made to order for customers; think of famous brands like Vedett, La Place, Le Coq Sportif and Paleis het Loo!, The Box can supply a personalised cake tin for €1,50, in a minimum order of 3,000 pieces, thanks to imports from China and low overheads.

Extremely inspiring

This price makes it very appealing for the baker’s shop on the corner, for instance, to personalise its biscuit tins. A tour of The Box’s inspiring showroom shows that many of the tins find their way to the coffee- and tea trade, confectionery manufacturers and other companies in the food industry. Some items stand out: how about a miniature coffin to hold the harmonica of hard rock artist Ozzy Osbourne or a tin box in the form of a dog’s bone.

A steady increase in clients and revenue is expected in the future. In 2016 The Box added aluminium tins to its assortment, which can be used to package cosmetics.
